The Romain Arts & Culture Center

ART Inc is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a Mission; to inspire and empower the community through arts, education, and culture. They do this by enhancing the quality of life for the community, especially youth, through programming regardless of ability to pay. ART Inc provides arts education to youth through in-school and after-school programming as well as summer camps.

The objective at ART Inc encompasses making arts education and culture affordable and accessible to all children, youth, and their families throughout the Peoria area regardless of their financial situation.

ART Inc is the leading organization in the Peoria area offering arts, education, and cultural programs to low-to-moderate income children & youth, regardless of their ability to pay.

Throughout the course of the past 3 school years, they have employed 80 teaching artists and served well over 500 students. Their first summer camp was in 2019, and provided approximately 45 students, ages 11-14, with the opportunity to learn coding, filmmaking, drama, dance, STEAM, and visual Arts.

Of those students 82% could not afford tuition and were given financial need scholarships, which were made available through generous individual donations. They are committed to having a sustained impact in the lives of children, specifically during the crucial hours after school and summers. Although Peoria Public Schools recognizes the value of music, language, and the arts by providing fine arts education as a vital part of the curriculum, the district is victim to Illinois’ inequitable education funding system.

Due to limited funding, Peoria Public Schools relies heavily upon numerous partnerships with civic and fine arts community organizations, such as ART Inc, to help to ensure the promotion of the arts to its students. ART Inc also provides arts education to Quest Charter Schools and other community-based organizations. Now more than ever, community organizations play a critical role in shaping the lives of local youth. ART Inc is uniquely positioned in the community to make a significant difference and with your donation we will continue our Mission!
